My birthday wish…

is for you, to know that you are loved.

A Letter to my younger self

Dearest Amelia,

I want you to know that you are beautiful, precious and loved. As you continue the rest of your journey, remember faith, hope and love. Never lose sight of yourself. Chase dreams of yours, make love, create art and most importantly do things that you enjoy. Don’t ever limit yourself, because you are worth it. Keep writing and don’t ever give up.

What breaks your heart means something more than that. It makes your heart ache, so take time to discover it, with time as your safest bet. The journey is yours, make it happen. Believe in you, because you are great, and you are wonderfully and fearfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Savor every moment, the good and bad. Life is too short, to not be brave.

is always a choice.

Be brave.
Dream big dreams,
& pray for it.

Whatever you do place your heart in God’s hand. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

Even if things don’t go well, remember this…

I pray that as you read this, you are already using your gifts and talents to build the Kingdom of God. Continue to shine for Him. Smile and radiate joy, one that none can take their eyes away from.

Your younger self at 25

Happiness is…

arriving in the moment.

It is a feeling of pure bliss. You know it when you are happy because you smile on the inside, and you are truly happy. Your heart is light and full. If I were to describe what happy is, it’s me as a jelly bean flipping around excitedly on a musical score. There’s no limit to what happy can do. Most importantly, it’s what God wants us to be 😉

What made me happy, was nothing short of coincidence. I was drawn to a text message a message sent a day before I attended a creativity session. The words read: Let us take time to listen to His voice and to freely express our journey in a creative way.’ There I was sitting at lunch over conversation with another about art, and asking God to lead the way. I guess He heard my prayer and answered immediately.

A part of me wanted to go, yet there were other reasons that made me choose not to. For fear and lack of knowledge of where God is leading, I prayed and God intervened. He said: ‘ It will be a beautiful surprise! Go for it! You wouldn’t miss it for anyone’ That said, I choose to follow His words.

More than art, I was led to familiar faces that immediately warmed my heart, and made me feel at ease. Chance encounters and familiarity with others was the first step. Then we were asked to share what we were currently feeling. I was tired, and I guess ‘tired’ wasn’t a feeling on the feelings sheet. Haha! Anyway, something caught my eye, cause we were supposed to choose from a list of feelings provided on paper. I said ‘Alienated’, not sure why but I explained.

I was then led smoothly to the next segment of listening. This lady, she spoke really well. She shared, ‘Knowing what we feel is important because feelings also tell us where we are at with Jesus.’ I was sold, and I was just listening intently. She then shared on the story of Zacchaeus, the tax collector. How Zacchaeus felt excluded from the rest of his community, his family, and whereever he went. The more she explained, the more I felt God choose me to be here. Yet I was doubting Him, doubting His great love for me.

These words, spoke to my heart, “God called Zacchaeus by his name, He didnt call him You, the tax collector, it was funny the way she said it. But more than that, the Lord calls each one of us, by our name, He calls me and says, ‘Hurry, come down, for I must go to your house today!’ ‘But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.‘ (Isaiah 43:1)

Jesus meets us everyday, but do we respond to Him?
