I have learnt to be thankful. For the little surprises and treats that God blesses me with. Honestly I have never noticed how or why I am thankful, but knowing that thankfulness is a gift from God- I praise Him and thank Him. By the grace of God, He allows me to have a thankful heart. Thankfulness is a great virtue. Pray and ask the Lord for it. It brings one out of their own misery, their littleness. That we are nothing. From dust we are, and to dust we shall return. We are nothing, nothing without God.
Growing in thankfulness allows me to rely on God’s strength and not my own. To be always humble and growing in God’s grace and mercy. To be reminded of God’s infinite love and to be rooted in Him. To be grateful for the little things that He has blessed me with, my family, my country, and most importantly the gift of life.
I seek not to compare myself with others, because I am wonderfully and fearfully made.
In God’s hands He created me, and I am perfect in His eyes. Clearly, not in the eyes of men, but Gods. That is what we must look at- How God sees us, because He sees our heart.
Being grateful allows us to be stripped of our sadness, disillusionment and despair. In this age and time we have everything- our own bed, our own computer and our room. We should be grateful, even studying is a gift from God, people in poor countries do not have enough money to send their kids to school, and they live in poverty.
Let us pray for the gift of thankfulness. To allow the holy spirit to work in our hearts, to go beyond ourselves, to love one another in faith, hope and charity. To be thankful for God’s great love. We don’t deserve to be loved by God, yet He loves us just as we are. Therefore in gratefulness of receiving His great love, we want to do something for the Lord- but we can never outdo God in generosity. To be like Jesus, we have to love like He does and to give thanks to God for all that He has done.
To love others as Jesus loved us- with the same love that He has given us. To love with no expectations or return but to love freely, everyone- with equal standard.
SO, what are you thankful for today?
